Styrax Gum Honduras

Description

Styrax Gum Honduras is extracted from the massive Liquidambar Styraciflua tree, which grows throughout much of the southern US, as well as Mexico and Central America. The material is collected via natural pockets that form within the trees, allowing harvesters to gather styrax without cutting or harming the trees. Unlike its Asian counterparts, Honduran styrax gum has much darker coloration, with a top note heavily reminiscent of styrene. However, the material still retains the sweet and balsamic notes expected of natural balsam. Honduras styrax gum has a variety of uses within perfumery; once the resinoids are prepared properly, most of the styrene’s initial harshness dissipates.
