Thuja Oil

Description

Also referred to as “Cedarleaf Oil” and “Northern White Cedar Oil,” Thuja Oil is steam-distilled from the leaves and twigs of the Thuja occidentalis tree, which grows abundantly throughout Canada and the northern United States. The aroma of the oil is fresh, powerful, and sharp, with a camphoraceous top note reminiscent of fresh herbs. Thuja oil’s popularity within air fresheners has made the material a staple among aerosol sprays and deodorizers, though it also sees extensive use in other applications such as insecticides, industrial cleaners, and low-cost perfumes. The oil blends well with other forest or pine-related notes, making thuja an excellent addition to ingredients such as rosemary, pine needle, and sage.
