Thiomenthone

Description

Thiomenthone is an extremely powerful, sulfurous chemical most reminiscent of buchu oil. The aroma of this material is overwhelming, requiring great diffusion before becoming palatable to the average perfumer. However, when used in small amounts, thiomenthone can impart a fruity, minty, and somewhat green nuance to citrus blackcurrant formulations. It is most commonly used in grapefruit products, where the material’s sulfuric and alliaceous qualities enhance rich, tropical flavorings.
