Calamus Oil

Description

Steam-distilled from the rhizomes of the Acorus Calamus plant, Calamus Oil is sometimes referred to as “Sweet Root,” “Sweet Myrtle,” “Sweet Cane,” and many other regional names. Grown throughout temperate areas of the world, Calamus is primarily produced by Hungary, Poland, Russia, India, USA, and Japan. Its oil is pale and pleasantly sweet, with a spicy and woody nuance that lingers throughout the drydown process. Its fragrant sweetness is often compared to dried milk sweet leather, providing a variety of aromatic applications within perfumery. In flavor, Calamus Oil is often used in spice blends and alcoholic beverages, paired alongside other ingredients such as ginger, cardamom, and angelica root.
