Fennel Oil Bitter

Description

An almost colorless liquid steam-distilled from the fruits of both cultivated and wild-grown Foeniculum vulgare herbs, Fennel Oil Bitter is produced throughout much of India, Asia, and Eastern Europe. The oil carries a sharp and camphoraceous aroma, with a slightly warm and earthy top note. Upon drydown, Fennel Oil Bitter becomes far more sweet, spicy, and anisic. The flavor of this oil is distinctly different from its aroma, instead retaining a bitter and slightly “burning” kick giving way to a sweet aftertaste. Popular among European cuisine, Fennel Oil Bitter is often used for medicinal products, cooking supplies, and liqueur flavorings. The oil also finds use in a number of fruit-based applications, adding complexity through its bitter and camphoraceous topnote. In fragrance, Fennel Oil Bitter is often utilized as a masking agent for air fresheners, insecticides, and industrial products.
