Myrrh Oil

Description

Steam-distilled from the tear-shaped exudates of the Commiphora Myrrha tree, Myrrh Oil is one of the longest continually used ingredients in the history of perfumery. Similar to Frankincense, this oil has its origins in West Africa and Arabia, with usage dating back to the earliest days of essential oil distillation. Myrrh oil is warm, balsamic, and spicy, with a slight medicinal top note that is often used to lift the profile of other perfumery ingredients. In fragrance, myrrh oil is preferred over other myrrh extracts due to its lighter coloration, as well as its long-standing contribution to heavy floral or spicy accords. In flavor, myrrh oil can be used to create a resinous and aromatic note within ingredients such as forest moss, juniper berry, and citrus flowers.
